I just read AJ Leon’s manifesto: The Life and Times of a Remarkable Misfit. An extremely powerful piece of writing. Touching on many things that we hear people say often, but in his case, through AJ’s passion and conviction you will know it to be true.
I met AJ and Melissa Leon, the brilliance behind Misfit Inc. on the sidewalk just outside the 92nd Street Y after #140conf12 ( The 140 Conference) in New York a few months ago. We spoke only long enough for an introduction, they were passing by quickly, and I was on my way back to Montreal. I regretted not being able to have the time to speak longer, yet, I was incredibly grateful to meet them in person – even if just for a moment. Now, a couple of months later, I had the pleasure of touching upon their incredible work, by way of this manifesto. I originally thought it might cover their work and travel, which are remarkable, but was even more pleased when I realized this was truly AJ’s personal account on how it is possible to change the world. Complete with some clever lists of do’s and don’ts.

I love this quote by Christopher Reeve, tweeted out by JD Andrews. JD is a person I met on Twitter, who I follow for his wonderful travel insights, links and pictures – if you don’t know him, he is definitely one to follow.
In regard to this wonderful quote, I can’t think of anything more relevant to what happens when people put their minds together and commit to making dreams come true. Nothing is impossible in this world, and I think that the 140 Conferences are a great way of connecting with people and seeing this first hand, one on one. We can all say “anything is possible”, but when you are surrounded by people making it happen, suddenly magic happens and you are on your way.

With the call for speakers coming to a close and things falling beautifully into place for the upcoming #140Conf Montreal, we thought that as we enter the final days of early bird registration we would warm you up with an exciting preview of our spectacular speaker line up.
We are so proud to have such a show of support for Montreal, and this amazing event. Thank you to everyone who has submitted their proposals! We have had submissions on the subjects of Marketing, Branding, Leadership, HR, the Arts, Non-Profit/Charity, Law, and Health – to name a few. It is going to be a very inspiring event!

Social Media Meets IRL – #140MTL Meetup – The Cocktail
We had an amazing evening at the #140conf Montreal Meetup, I want to thank everyone who came out, tweeted in on the hashtag, and joined us via the Facebook event page to make the evening so memorable. Following presentations by Jeff Pulver and Erica Diamond, we moved our event to the beautiful Osco! restaurant attached to the Sara B. Bar at the Intercontinental Montreal.
We had a great mix of people, some completely new to social media, and many “pro’s” blogging or using social media for business, sharing or personal communication.
It was really interesting as I got feedback from the event afterwards to hear so many people use the word inspiring.
